It depends on the tool. The mold generators — two-part box mold, silicone mold box, plaster mold and vase & planter mold — take your own STL model. The cookie & clay cutter turns your SVG or image into a cutter. The nameplate and keychain generators are text-based, so you just type your name or word.

Every generator exports a print-ready STL and 3MF. STL is the universal format that works in every slicer — pick it if you're unsure. 3MF is a newer format that also carries extras like separate colors, handy for multi-color prints. Both drop straight into your slicer.

Every model is exported print-ready. That said, a generated model is a technical aid — we recommend a quick check in your slicer before you print or cast, just as you would with any 3D file.

First, refresh the page — the generators load a 3D engine, and a reload clears most hiccups. If it still looks off, try a desktop browser or re-upload your file. Very heavy STL files can be slow on low-powered devices; a lighter model or a computer usually fixes it.

Models you make with 3DGEN are for personal, non-commercial use — you're free to 3D print and cast them for yourself. Selling the models or the items made from them needs a paid plan: Pro and Founder include a commercial license and let you remove the “3DGEN” mark. See our plans and Terms of Use for details.

Free downloads include a small "3DGEN" mark engraved into the model. Please keep it in place — removing or hiding it isn't permitted. Using your own branding is planned as a paid option later.
